3-甲基吡啶又名β-甲基吡啶、3-皮考林,是一种有机合成中间体和溶剂,在农药上作为杀虫剂吡虫啉和啶虫脒的中间体,用于合成下一步中间体3-甲基吡啶-N-氧化物,也可用作医药中间体、染料中间体、树脂中间体等。

主要用于制造维生素B6、烟酸和烟酰胺、尼可拉明和强心剂等药物;也可用作溶剂、酒精变性剂、染料中间体、树脂中间体、橡胶硫化促进剂、杀虫剂、防水剂的原料,以及胶片感光剂的添加物。

3-甲基吡啶制备
1.从煤焦化副产中回收,也用合成法生产。由乙醛、甲醛和氨反应。采用SiO2-Al2O2-Bi2O3为催化剂,原料的摩尔配比为乙醛:37%甲醛:氨=1.648:3.096,在432℃进行反应,吡啶收率48.4%,3-甲基吡啶收率为27.0%。改变催化剂组成及其他反应条件,可调节产物的生成比例。选择合适的配料经和催化剂,用六次甲基四胺代替氨,3-甲基吡啶的收率可达59.7%。
2.精制方法:与2-甲基吡啶精制方法相同。粗制的3-甲基吡啶含杂质较多,通过与水的共沸蒸馏可除去大部分杂质。用分馏的方法分离4-甲基吡啶和2,6-二甲基吡啶比较困难,大多利用其加成化合物的溶解度不同以达到分离的目的。例如用硫酸铜溶液处理后,收集加成产物,用氢氧化钙分解后进行水蒸气蒸馏精制。
