二甲基硫用途
用于制备二甲基亚砜和用作农药中间体或溶剂
【用途二】
GB 2760—96规定为允许使用的食用香料。主要用于配制玉米、番茄、土豆、奶制品、菠萝和橘子类果香及青香型香精。
【用途三】
本品为溶剂，是生产二甲基亚砜、蛋氨酸及农药的中间体。可以用作有机合成，聚合反应和氰化反应的溶剂。用作分析试剂，聚丙烯腈和其他合成纤维纺丝及液压油方面。还可用作城市煤气的赋臭剂、工业净化剂、涂料脱膜剂、电池低温防腐剂、农药渗透剂等。局部用于血液药品、植物病理学和营养物中。

二甲基硫制备
1.精制方法：利用氯化汞与甲硫醚生成络合物进行精制：在1250mL的乙醇中加入1mol氯化汞，再于此溶液中加入0.67mol甲硫醚的醇溶液。生成的固体经重结晶后得到具一定熔点，结构为2(CH3)2S·HgCl2的络合物晶体。将250mL浓盐酸溶于780mL水中，加入500g精制的络合物进行加热，使甲硫醚分离。水洗后用氯化钙干燥，纯度可达99.995%（mol）。
