L-瓜氨酸是在脯氨酸或谷氨酰胺和谷氨酸的分解代谢中衍生自鸟氨酸的氨基酸,或通过精氨酸-瓜氨酸途径从1-精氨酸衍生的氨基酸。 L-瓜氨酸也是在不对称二甲基精氨酸(ADMA)降解过程中获得的,该过程由二甲基精氨酸二甲基氨基水解酶(DDAH)催化,产生二甲胺(DMA)作为副产物[1]。
