The anti-amebic drug is mainly used to treat amebiasis caused by the lytic amoeba. Amoeba protozoa have two basic forms of trophozoites and cysts in the human intestinal parasite. The infected amoeba cyst is contagious. After being swallowed, the trophozoites break out of the sac, live in the intestines, dissolve the tissue and penetrate into the intestinal submucosa to divide and multiply, causing ulceration of the intestinal wall, causing acute or chronic amoebic dysentery. When the environment is not suitable, the trophozoite becomes a cyst with a thick wall, excreted with the feces, and then infects the new host. Amoeba trophozoites sometimes move to the liver, lungs, and brain tissue along with blood flow in the intestinal wall to cause reproduction, causing extraintestinal amebiasis such as liver abscess, lung abscess and brain abscess, called extraintestinal amebiasis. At present, most anti-amebic drugs have a killing effect on trophozoites, and a few drugs have a killing effect. In addition, certain antibiotics such as paromomycin and oxytetracycline can directly kill trophozoites or inhibit symbiotic flora and exert anti-amebic effect. Trichomoniasis mainly refers to trichomonas vaginitis, caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, and can also be parasitic in the male genitourinary tract and transmitted through sexual contact. At present, metronidazole is the most effective drug for the treatment of vaginal trichomoniasis. In the case of infection with metronidazole trichomoniasis, acetamidoamine and trichostatin can also be used.
